Constitution of India

Comments to my earlier post motivated me to write this post. I have always been amazed by the Constitution that governs the largets democracy in the world. Dr. B R Ambedkar played an important role in designing this constitution. Wikipedia says:

It is the longest written Constitution of any sovereign country in the world, containing 395 articles in 22 parts, 14 schedules and 94 amendments[5], for a total of 117,369 words in the English language version

Below is the Preamble of Constituion of India.

WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;
and to promote among them all
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;
IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HERE BY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.
